Seen any good trees lately?

Julie at The Land of Lost Luggage is sponsoring her second annual virtual photo excursion: Getting Arboreal: A Nature Collection. This collaborative event will document a single tree's journey from Summer to Fall/Winter to Spring.

I like participating in collaborations with other artists so I decided I needed to take part. Plus I love trees. There are so many trees but this one I found very appealing today. I like its attitude.

The taller trees are trying to overshadow but it perseveres.

It is August 22, it is hot (98 degrees) but it blooms big happy blooms.

Too little rain but its leaves are dark and glossy.

Too much wind but its limbs are delicate and graceful.

I will share photos with you of this southern belle of a tree as it transitions from Summer to Winter to Spring.
Sounds like the inspiration for a quilt or series of quilts if you ask me.

I have seen a lot of good trees lately! I wish we had some trees in front of my house.. it would help in this drought. They're just puny things right now. In about 10 years I'll be happy. Nice photos, and nice blog! :)

A series of quilts too? Sounds like a GREAT idea! So happy you're on board with the collab, Suzan! xo

I love trees that bloom. I think a series of any kind of our trees is a great idea. What is the scent like for the blooms? And, did I miss the name of the tree. I mean the one in the book not what you call it when you walk by it? lol

Whoa -- this is a beauty and something we don't have up here in chilly New England. (Well, chilly in the winter, right now it's 85 degrees!) Can't wait to see what this graceful lady does through the seasons. Thanks for playing along.

I absolutely love crepe myrtles. Love the way the bark peels off and is so smooth underneath.

Just a reminder that the Getting Arboreal: A Nature Collection is up for an update next week. Try to make a post with both your original tree photo and your new tree photo and leave me a comment so I can update the links. Hope to see you then!
